"Golden Terriblis" - The Endangered - Golden Poison Dart Frog

Hi Friends, 

I just wanted to show you my latest painting “Golden terribilis”.  Wikipedia says - Phyllobates terribilis, the Golden Poison Frog or the Golden Dart Frog, is a poison dart frog endemic to the Pacific coast of Colombia. In captivity, poison dart frogs are not poisonous. It is in the wild where they are in fact poisonous because of what they eat. Thisamphibian of the dendrobatidae family is currently considered the most poisonous vertebrateworldwide.^[1] The optimal habitat of P. terribilis is the rainforest with high rain rates This Frog’s conservation status is on the Endangered List.

Banks calling for payment

I find it really interesting that during my OSHA appeal case that the Banks are calling for payment even after I’ve told them I’ve been off work for a year and half trying to recover from the “torture I endured”  One of my Banks was one that went on their junket to Las Vegas at “The Venetian” to hold their meetings…after given money for bailouts that are supposed to help people like me from being “foreclosure” victims.  My question as a recovering auditor, is “what did you do with that money?” I should be calling you, Wells Fargo Mortage… You’ve told us there is nothing you can do on my wife’s salary, so why keep calling?  There is a big difference in my opinion on not having the money to pay your mortgage and getting a bailout and spending it “haphazardly” on Las Vegas Junkets, and Bonuses for executives that allowed this debacle to evolve and escalate to the point it is today. So, Well Fargo and all the other banks that participated… “Where did the Bailout money go? You are supposedly in the business of tracking money and balances… You may ask, who is responsible?

Every certification, test I’ve ever taken, has always asked the question, Who is responsible? The Answer:  Management, Mangement Mangement.  That question is asked on the CISM, CISSP, CISA exams… so Management, it appears you’re not off the hook. You are responsible!

Impressionistic Lioness Carving – Chauvet Caves – Finds Home with Private Collector

 

 

Chauvet Impressionistic Lioness finds home in a Private Collection in Bellingham, WA

This piece is about 3.5 inches long by 2″ high. The lioness is covered in a coating of 18K gold and Black Rouge. This creates a Charcoal effect with Gold accents.  Thank you for all your support “Maestro”, I’m sure you wll enjoy the piece for years to come.  This piece was inspired from the “Panel of Lions” in Chauvet Cave.

“Chauvet Cave is exceptional – despite being recently discovered in 1994, it contains the world’s oldest rock art ever found. The Chauvet Cave is located near Vallon-Pont-d’Arc in the Ardèche region of southern France, its chance discovery by a trio of speleologists revealed not only the fossilized remains of many animals, including some that are now extinct, but one of the most extensive Palaeolithic rock art galleries ever recorded.

On inspecting Chauvet’s rock art on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Dr Jean Clottes realised instantly that the cave was of grave importance. “When you examine a painted line under the magnifying glass, you notice that what appears as a continuous, unbroken line is in fact full of tiny gaps caused by erosion.” Not only was the art likely to prove extremely old, it was very extensive, highly varied, and very skillfully executed. But perhaps most importantly, the cave and its contents were more or less perfectly preserved – untouched for many thousands of years. For this reason, whilst the investigation of the cave took place and the age of the rock art was verified, the cave was locked down. Since 1994, more people have been to the top of Everest than into the Chauvet Cave.

Six months later, carbon 14 dating analyses showed that one buffalo and two rhinoceros were approximately 31,000 years old. The datings “have revolutionised hitherto accepted concepts on the appearance of art and its development, and prove that homo sapiens learnt to draw at a very early stage”.

Hundreds of animal paintings have been recorded, depicting at least 13 different species, including those which have rarely or never been found in other “Ice age” ice age paintings. Rather than the more usual animals of the hunt that predominate in Paleolithic cave art, such as horses, cattle and reindeer, the walls of the Chauvet Cave are covered with predatory animals – lions, panthers, bears, owls, rhinos and hyenas. As one would expect, there are no human figures, except at the very end of the gallery where there appears to be a Venus figure - the legs and genitals of a woman – attracting the attention of the figure now known as the ‘Sorcerer’ – the lower body of a man with the upper body of a bison. The scene would suggest a ritual, shamanic or magical aspect to these paintings.

The gorges of the Ardèche region are home to numerous caves. Is Chauvet unique, or are there more marvels to discover?

The Bradshaw Foundation visited the Chauvet Cave in 1999 and 2001followed by a further field trip made in 2005.”

Holy Cats – PHISH is Reuniting

The Vermont-bred jam band, which disbanded in 2004, is planning three dates next March in Hampton, Virginia. A notice posted on the band’s Web site says Phish will play March 6, March 7 and March 8, 2009, at the Hampton Coliseum. The Web site says more 2009 dates will be announced later.

This is may latest piece I’ve been working on. Its Patina on the Goddess is 16KP -18K and Rouge. The outer portion is polished with a fine grit. The stone is from Beaver Creek behind my house, I found it while walking and could just see the finished portait in this stone. Michael Franti and Spearhead Review – Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA

Hi Friends & Michael Franti and Spearhead.

I want to Thank my Friends Jim and Nancy for buying my wife and I tickets (birthdays presents) to hear Michael Franti and Spearhead. It was a beautiful night at Marymoor Park, a slight breeze blowing, kids with parents, hulahoops, giant hulahoops. A nearly full moon took it’s position at the 10 o’clock behind the stage at Marymoor. This was my first concert at Marymoor.  It was fabulous. Michael Franti and Spearhead’s Music was as clear and clean as a CD. The park was so packed I was at the Entrance on a Queen size blanket. Michael had the crowd jumping, jiving, lighting our lighters, registering to vote.  Props to Michael and Spearhead’s Sound Crew. OUTSTANDING job team. This was the last concert for the season. Michael and Spearhead – Marymoor was built for your concerts. We want to see you back on a annual basis. If you’re ever in the Bellingham, WA area driving to Vancouver, BC. Here’s what others have to say about Marymoor. My wife and I drove approximately 100 miles oneway to see her very first Spearhead Concert. She loved it…. laying on the blanket getting a neck massage, then dancing some more. I couldn’t get her to hulahoop although I believe she can.

What’s been happening?

Well, to tell you the truth, it’s been Pure Hell. I had to switch Medications, because “INSURANCE WOULDN”T COVER IT….” you’ve gotta love it… ONLY in America, but we are free.  So I came down off a Medication that takes 5 weeks to WEEN off of… in Less than 12 hours and had every withdrawal symptom you can imagine, Jello feeling inside with every step…etc..etc…. That’s why I haven’t been so responsive these last 4-5 weeks.  But anyways… I’m trying to get back on track keep healing and Hopefully, the insurance companies will be STABLE enough to quit changing their formularies. I’ve lost 90lbs now…since Sept 20th 2007, and still losing. To myself, I look young again except for the gray.  Power to the Peaceful Y’all – Karl

Stacy Kohut of R-One FourCross – Whistler, BC

Well we went to Whistler again this weekend and met up with Stacy Kohut. Him getting ready to wheel his way to the chairlift, he was telling me that he was clocked on a course in California, going 60 mph. That is fast for a gravity fed machine. To meet him he is always near the Gondola lift at Whistler near his Van. If you see it you’ll want one.
